Frequently asked questions

The practical details behind Just In Charge, from how a plan is created to what happens when your day changes.

What are the requirements for my charging station?

Your charging station must meet these requirements to connect to Just In Charge:

  • It can be an AC or DC charger.
  • It supports OCPP 1.6J.
  • It has an active and reliable internet connection.
How do I connect my charger to Just In Charge?

After you log in, Just In Charge gives you a unique OCPP server URL. Open your charger's administration app or portal, find its OCPP or backend settings, and enter that URL. The exact steps depend on the charger and your access level.

Which data is collected, and what happens to it?

During the beta, Just In Charge collects charging-session information to operate, secure and improve the service. This includes when a session starts and stops and how much energy is charged. Only the data required for each function is shared with the external services listed on the About page.

What is still on the roadmap?

The current roadmap includes:

  • Home Assistant support.
  • Notification support through Telegram.
  • Support for more energy suppliers and grid providers with dynamic tariffs.
  • CPMS pass-through mode, with Just In Charge acting as an intermediary that optimizes charging around departure times while the rest of the existing system stays unchanged.
Can I use Just In Charge for authorization?

Yes. When you scan an RFID badge at your charger, it appears in your Just In Charge account so that you can identify it and add it as an authorized badge.

What if I do not know my departure time?

No problem. Connect your charger, go about your day, and plug in whenever you can. As Just In Charge learns your charging routine, it can suggest a departure time that fits your habits and still gives the planner opportunities to save you money.

How does Just In Charge work?

When you plug in your vehicle, Just In Charge looks at dynamic electricity prices or available solar-intensity data for the period between plug-in and your next configured departure time. The algorithm then calculates the most favorable times to charge while working toward the energy you need by departure.

Which optimization algorithms are available?

The currently planned optimization strategies include:

  • Dynamic-price optimization, for example with a compatible CKW tariff.
  • Solar-intensity optimization for drivers with photovoltaic generation.
What is the advantage of connecting photovoltaics directly to my charger?

A direct connection can be a good option when your equipment supports it. In some installations, however, it requires an installer or replacement equipment because the charger and photovoltaic system come from different suppliers or brands. Just In Charge's approach only requires an internet connection and OCPP support, so you can try dynamic solar-aware planning during the beta without replacing otherwise functional equipment.

Is the beta really free forever?

Yes. If you join during the beta, every connected charger that completes more than 100 charging sessions before the beta ends at the start of 2027 will remain free to use on Just In Charge forever.
